The film City of God is about two boys growing up in a violent slum of a city in Brazil. The movie follows the path of each of the boys life’s when one becomes a drug dealer and the other becomes a photographer. The plot of this movie is based mostly on character.

The documentary-like-editing is well used and it uses handheld camera and beautiful tracking shots to make you feel as if you are on the streets of the slum together with the characters. One great shot is when we see a boy running from

the cops with his girlfriend watching from the car, this shot has a great sense of movement a

Freeze and zoom shots on character’s face every time we are introduced to a new character, the shot is used to indicate the transition to a flashback scene that describes the character, this is mostly used in the beginning of the movie when we are being introduced to the characters.

Sarina Samson – Cinematographer

Kieran Harris – Director

Miguel Almeida – Editor

Our film is about Miguel Almeida’s life when he first came to Manila. The film is set at ISM and starts off in the hallway. As he walks down, he goes towards his first acquaintance that he met in school. He then has a flashback about a memory with that particular person. This continues until he reaches his last friend. At the end of the movie, he goes to his locker and opens it then closes it.

The film includes shots from Kieran’s film ideas. The ideas that will be put in the film are when Miguel walks up to Kieran the flashback is of Kieran playing his favorite sport rugby then getting tackled, also when Kieran dresses as superman and comes out the MS bathroom.

The film will also include shots similar to the ones in the movie ‘City of God.’ We will also add POV shots, close ups, and establishing shots. Editing will include the flashback transitions, slow motion and sounds.
